John Goldsmith is a freelance photographer and owner of Waxy Photography located in Vancouver, Canada. He is an experienced event photographer and artist who brings creativity into all aspects of his work. His formal art training comes from the Jane Addams Hull House in Chicago and the Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver.
John (a.k.a. Waxy) has worked with a diverse clientele that includes individuals, non-profits, corporations, and governmental agencies. He has had the pleasure to photograph a number of recognizable faces, including the environmentalist and finalist in the Greatest Canadian Contest, Dr. David Suzuki. He was also hired to photograph the leader of Canada's New Democratic Party, Mr. Jack Layton.
His artwork and event photographs are used on TV and in print media and web publications. Past clients and publishers include Metro Vancouver, Simon Fraser University, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Boston Review, and JPG Magazine. In 2007 he was a featured contributor in Photosho magazine with his Street Photography article which appeared in major bookstores across Canada. His photographs have appeared on the Conde Nast webzine and in SilverKris, the Singapore Airlines Inflight Travel Magazine.
